Tamarack CA Area Overview
Originally named Camp Tamarack, this town was founded in 1920. Tamarack consists of rural parcels far above the snow line. Fun fact, Tamarack holds the U.S. record for greatest snow depth ever measured. A maximum snow depth of 451 inches, or 37.5 feet, was recorded on March 11, 1911.
Tamarack is located 2.9 miles from the Bear Valley, which makes it the perfect location for both cross country and downhill skiing. Just beyond Bear Valley sits Lake Alpine surrounded by large granite rocks for summertime lake fun.
Tamarack Lodge is one of the few accommodations at this elevation offering Airbnb style accommodations and it hosts various winter and summer time activities. Cabins in Tamarack are not always accessible by car in the wintertime, so be sure and check the weather and road conditions.
