Mountain Ranch CA Area Overview
Living in Mountain Ranch offers residents a rural feel
The settlement was established during the California Gold Rush. Originally named El Dorado, the name was changed to Mountain Ranch at the behest of the US Postal Service as other towns of this name already existed in California. Currently, there are 3 post office buildings in the town. The present one, a small post office which was built in 1956, and a post office built in 1923 which was once billed as the world’s smallest post office.
You’ll also find California Cavern here, California’s first show cave and is its longest cavern system.
